‘Step by Step’ Stars Remember Suzanne Somers with Love: Suzanne Somers’ former costars from the beloved sitcom “Step by Step” paid tribute to the late actress during a reunion at ’90s Con. Somers passed away in October 2023 at the age of 76 after a battle with breast cancer.
The cast, including Patrick Duffy, Staci Keanan, Angela Watson, Christine Lakin, Christopher Castile, Jason Marsden, and Sasha Mitchell, reminisced about Somers’ generosity, style, and her groundbreaking role as a successful businesswoman and television icon.
“Suzanne always gave such thoughtful presents,” Staci Keanan recalled. “She had this glamorous style, but was also so down-to-earth. One Christmas, she gave me these beautiful Prada tights, but it wasn’t just about the brand. She was always thinking about how to make people feel special.”
Christine Lakin spoke about the inspiration Somers provided, “Growing up, I loved watching her on ‘Three’s Company’. But knowing her in real life was even better. She was a huge star, yet so kind and approachable. Suzanne proved that you could be successful in Hollywood without losing your heart.”
Angela Watson shared a cherished on-screen memory: “My favorite part was doing the mother-daughter pageant with Suzanne. We tap-danced and sang together – it was the highlight of my career.”
“Step by Step” aired from 1991 to 1998, and centered around single parents Frank Lambert (Duffy) and Carol Foster (Somers) who fall in love and blend their families. Somers was a trailblazer in her portrayal of a strong, successful, and loving woman, making a lasting impact on viewers and her younger costars alike.
