A motorcyclist has died in a fiery crash in Sydney’s north after colliding with a ute and two other cars before crashing through a brick fence and catching fire.
The crash occurred on Pennant Hills Road in Normanhurst just after 12 p.m. on Monday. Police believe the motorcyclist, who has not yet been formally identified, was a man in his 60s.
The driver of the ute, a 36-year-old man, has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The blaze was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW, but Pennant Hills Road has been closed in both directions between Hinemoa Avenue and Buckingham Avenue, leading to traffic delays on the M1 and surrounding roads.
Buses are also diverting away from Pennant Hills.
Police and emergency services are on the scene.
This is a tragic reminder of the dangers of the road and the importance of safe driving. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.
